Join us for an exciting learning experience on Artificial intelligence for Electron Microscopy to be held from the 15th to 17th October 2025 at Université Paris Cité-Campus Odéon, in the heart of Paris.
The school will combine lectures, hands-on training and discussions on the following topics:
- History and state of the art of the field - Architectures and functionalities of Machine Learning (ML)/Deep Learning (DL) models - Optimised generation/management of realistic datasets for model training - Application of ML/DL models in electron microscopy data processing and analysis (denoising, super-resolution, semantic segmentation and classification of images and spectra).
Deep learning techniques are now widely used to automatically segment cellular or material structures, classify complex features across large datasets, and enhance image quality through denoising and super-resolution, accelerating analysis and enabling new insights from noisy or low-resolution acquisitions. Such approaches are particularly powerful for extracting quantitative information from high-throughput or low-dose experiments where conventional image processing methods fall short.
The School is open to:
PhD students and more experienced researchers wishing to acquire a base knowledge in ML/DL and practical training in its application to transmission electron microscopy, easily transposable to other types of imaging, from the creation of representative databases to the analysis of imaging, diffraction and spectroscopy data.
This School will focus on the application of the latest approaches in Deep Learning, in particular with the latest diffusion model. The morning sessions will be dedicated to lectures by experts, with the afternoon sessions devoted to hands-on training on computers providing practical expertise ML/DL-based data processing and analysis.
The registration fee will be 110 euros and will cover all coffee/lunch breaks and the conference dinner. Registration will be in two steps. First all particpants will have again pre-registrerd before proceeding to full registration and fee payement
The members of the organizing committee are from these three laboratories: Dr. Jaysen Nelayah and Prof. Christian Ricolleau (MPQ/Université Paris Cité), Dr. Riccardo Gatti and Dr. Hakim Amara (LEM-ONERA/CNRS) and Dr. Maxime Moreaud (Manufacture Française des Pneumatiques Michelin, Exploration I4.0). This School is sponsored by the Faculty of Science of Université Paris Cité.
